Gardening has been a wonderful activity for my students. Even though it was a last year grant, this year my new students are enjoying from it too! They all love to experience the good (digging dirt, seeing sprouts, eating crops, etc.) and learning from the not-so-good (javelinas ate our crops!!). They proudly work hard towards an attainable goal!
Last year, and this year, I have received STEM-CAN funds which have helped my ESL students improve their English skills. We use headphones in my class to complete online programs such as Duolingo, Freckle ELA and to listen to books on Epic! Library. Students are able to better manipulate their computers with the help of our new class set of mice! This comes in handy when we have highlighting of texts to do.
Thank you Dr. Steve for funding our project last year. We were able to buy a robot and t-shirts for our kids. They earned a second place in the Regional tournament and 11th rank in the state tournament.
Some of the money that I received was used to teach electric circuits, which allowed students to add LEDs to a variety of their design projects including: an LED candle for the Thanksgiving table as well as a cardboard arcade game with lights. Thank you so much for all you do.
Here are the Ironwood 3rd grade GEM (Gifted Education in Marana) students with the Rubik’s cubes! The students have learned perseverance, following directions, teamwork, and memorized algorithms. Not to mention had a lot of fun! Thank you very much for the grant!
It was great! The students loved it and we had a great time. I wish I had pictures of the last day of school when the students put on a show for the entire school, but I was busy working with the presentation. Thank you so much for the grant, we couldn't have done it without you.
Thank you so much for funding our grant and making Chromebooks possible for our little learners.
